Roberts County Will Get Stimulus Check

The Watertown Public Opinion had a very good article in today's newspaper with a breakdown of who gets what of the
much-talked about stimulus money. The link to the newspaper is below:

http://www.thepublicopinion.com/

Roberts county will get a check of $155,185.00

The commissioners will have one year to obligate that money towards specific projects, which they will choose. We would hope they choose wisely.

We certainly hope this goes towards road/bridge repairs and not towards paving some little used road that goes to a commissioner's home, as was done in the past.

The way this money was allocated was not good for the smaller communities. Those cities with populations of under 5,000 will not get anything from this stimulus package....nothing at all. That is a pity since South Dakota is a very rural state, with the majority of our communities having less than 5,000 people.

We would like to thank the good people of the Watertown Opinion for their coverage of our state and our communities. We depend on you for news and you do not disappoint.

Very nice post. Informitive which is nice. Now we are at the nercy of the commissioners again. Do you think they will spend some to bring jsil staff up to pare? They are operating on a bare staff. No one to fill in in case of sickness Etc. We will see but I have my doubts it will be spent wiely with the 3 dipsticks having a say.

I read on the internet Hull was disappointed they (the commissioners) have no say how the stimulis money is spent. Does he have a clue? They can't be trusted!!! At least he and the other 2 Dipsticks can't be. Who would want him saying how to spend it? He can't even be civil to our Sheriff or any one who doent think he walks on water like he thinks he does. Untill those 3 are gone Roberts Co. well be the laughing armpit of the state. We in other countys follow it to see what dumb thing they have done now and they never disappoint us!!!!!!!

Why the whinning about the stimulis?? Its something they didnt have. They are never happy, just shows they didnt spend our tax money right. They holler about the jail but its whats making money. Go figrue!! Man i'll be glad when Hulls gone. What a jerk. And Horton running aroung to other agencies trying to get dirt on our Sheriff. They are sick of him also. And Roger N is just read wood on the board. Thank God for Zimpel and George or we would have nothing. Gameron to, hes great and he will pull it together just give him time. At least he knows the law and thats more then the last one did.

The Watertown PO does give good coverage on county events BUT so does the SOTA. good un-biased, informative information from the SOTA always.
Just too bad Sisseton doesn't have a real newspaper. Even Wilmot Enterprise offers better county news coverage

Just read in Wilmot Enterprise, CC meetings minutes that stimulas check will be deposited and given to Hwy. Dept.. Good move! We all know they like to hide everything in the general fund so us taxpaying voters never know what happened to the money. Notice city of Wilmot publishes a monthly financial statement showing all. Just to bad our auditor can't do the same but guess she is just way too busy.
