We have our first (and hopefully last) blizzard of the 08/09 winter season blasting here in Roberts County SD today. With most roads closed or blocked across the entire state almost, it might be a good time to sit down with a hot cup of your favorite beverage and let us know where you hang your hat. Maybe carry our sense of community just a little further.....
Here in RC I found a little over 6 inches of new snow has fallen (or blown into the gauge as the winds are howling!) A nasty day to be out and about.
A good site to check the snow amounts is CoCoRaHS This is a network of volunteers who report precipitation around the state so you can find local reports there that best reflect your area. Check it out!

I'm local and we have lots of snow!
And some fools were hoping for a white Christmas! LOL LOL A good, old fashioned SD blizzard we have!I only hope everyone got their cattle out of the corn stubble and behind some shelter. A good day to sit tight and be thankful for the warm houses we have and just stay off the roads unless it is an absolute emergency. Merry Christmas to all!
I follow this from IA and we got only a dusting of snow with wind from the same storm.
I live in Sisseton and its wicked where I'm at. Good ole SD blizzard.
And now we have something to discuss besides "Hulls" and our CC's. Being temporily snowed in gives us time to think positive, like county unity, cooperation between native and non-native and all of those other things that could happen here in our county if only we could overcome labels, racism and all those other things that are seperating us. Know my goals are high but someone has to start trying.
This line was dated last Sunday and now guess what? We are in th midst of another blizzard !! Is this going to become a weekly event? With this amount of dry snow it is only going to get worse. No travel advised and dangerous wind chills. Be careful folks.
