Remember when it was said that RC had 6 Commissioners? It sounds like we have another one, making a total of 7 now. It has been reported that 2 wanna-be CCers are attempting to dictate who gets off probation and when in the Sheriff Dept and one of them is insisting on being in on the CC decisions. It would seem this is all a sham so an informer can be kept running between the jail and the courthouse.
I am sure that our Sheriff has nothing to hide so why don't those 2 Counterfeit Commissioners just get back to doing the work they were hired to do? It might not be too early to start thinking of the next elections coming up and who needs to go and who can replace them?

True statement, Hull said Dawn wanted to be there when a decision was made on maintenence man so they would wait. Is she still running the commissioners from under the table???? Hull spends alot of time in her office. Us here at the court houde see him come and go. Be carful folks 6th and now 7th commissioner are still in the mix. I called her and she was gone for a month over the holidays with her family and had a Drs appointment for out patient surgery this past tues. She will be there no matter what he says. Be so glad when election comes so we get him and the other 2 "dipsticks" out of there. Thank God we have Zimpel and George there. I have it from a good source that Hull wants to "doctor" the books to make it seem the maintenance guy is working for Auditor dept-but will be paid from the jail funds. This sounds highly illegal? When he was asked to check with the Attorney General he muttered something under his breath. I have also been told that the SD Dept of Labor is calling RC regarding stiffing county employees over overtime wages. They may be interested in how the RC county books are kept?

Well we all knew that know Hull what a lousy chairman he would make!!! Hes going to have Roberts county at the top laughable county in the state all the while hes there. He wont listen to any one not even new States Attoerney as Cameron said in his campain he wanted all officals to work together which is a great idea. But Hull and his 2 dorks are not going to leave Sheriff Owen alone. Stomp on him Kerry and shut them up before we lose a respect in the state.
I've never been treated bad at Sisseton Auto or Johnsons from Milbank. But the credit union pushes for northland.
Is there anywhere to post about things besides commissioners besides the old ones no one reads anymore? I see the tribe will get a bunch of money from the new stimulus package, the members won't get any, looks like they are going to pump some of it into housing improvements, maybe if people took care of the rentals, they wouldn't have to keep puting money into them, what about us tribal members that own a home???

I found the other figures on another thread, $10,476.75 for Oct, $16,110 for Nov. ,$10,564.75 for Dec. Total $36,645.90 is whats been paid into general fund by Sheriffs office. And commissioners(not the 2 new ones)want you to beleive jail is a problem. Sheriff has almost paid his paultry wages for a yr. Yes I say paultry it was in the paper as others acdoss the state were. Roberts co. commissioners should be ashamed to have that in print. Smaller countys make more in all positions. Sheriff,deputys,jailers and dispatchers and they dont cover the miles or have the crime Roberts county does. Yet they hollor cause they dont make enough(commissioners) for what?? Man those 3 and auditor get worse and worse, wanting a rat its clear to all of us in Pierre what they are up to. They should realize by now we support the Sheriff and Jail Administrator. Its like reading the funny papers to see what dunb,dumber and dumbest are up to. Now we have a auditor helper in the mix!!!! What next. We know the new States Attorney is good so take it they won't even listen to him. Guess its up to the voters to take care of this bunch which we are sure they will. Where did you find the info on salaries? Would sure be of interest to all. Know that was a problem for Gary G. and is also a problem for Vince. You have to pay good people to keep them and we have the very best in Vince and Chad. Hope the CC's are dumb enough to continue trying to hide source of salary for Curtis White. We need more laughs, state wide, for Roberts Co. an trust me, Pierre knows about Roberts Co and their CC's
Funny but minutes of CC meeting never show Dawn voting but know most decisions made outside ofthe meetings. Hull and Crymons "live" in Dawn's back office. from personal obsevations. And CC's could reduce their saleries by only meeting twice a month rather then weekly, if they really wanted to save a buck or two. There are positions in county government who are under paid and deserve pay increases and I mean elected officals, not just hited employees.
Salries were listed in courier. Sawn should have it so anyone can get it, same as other counties if not in their paper check with auditors. Its all public info.
There are some of us working on getting saleries from other counties. When we get a few we will post. I think you will be surprised how are county falls behind others especially in law enforcement. Its a shame beceuse we have some of the best in the state. And commissioners cant say their benifits are better either because ther'e not. We are talking county not city.
Roberts County Sheriff's Office has contributed $5117.88 for the month of January.
The figures I give do not include monies from the 24/7 program or the profit sharing from our phone cards. Those monies are given directly to Auditor.

To those working on the salary information please keep us informed of your findings. I am just a little more than sick of hearing how poor this county is and why @ tribal lands/non-tribal lands and no tax revenue. No one has ever explanied to me just what the county provides in services to SWO and at what cost.
The biggest expense for the county is roads. We are a very large county with alot of roads to maintain. When US Hwy 81 became County Road 127 it really added to the burden. So any taxes lost are going to hurt because the roads have to be maintained regardless of population or who owns the land. The only alternative would be to transfer some roads to the tribe, but having driven on tribal roads in the hills west of Sisseton I hope that doesn't happen.
But the couty could afford to pave the road from Highway 109 to the Grant county line which just happens to run in front of Louie Voeltz house LOL LOL
Ok here are some figrues. I'll start with Hughes County, Jail size 46 adults no juviniles. Sgt Deputy $17.19 a hr. certified. uncertified start at $15.91. Jail Administator starts at $18.56 a hr plus overtime. Cpl of jail starts at $14.74 jailers start at $13.64 more than one of Roberts Co's after 25 years!!!!! Dispatchers Pd by city still waiting for those nos.
Marshal Co. Deputy,$12.46 6mos then raise at 1 yr. certified $15.93. Jailer/Dispatcher $12.50 goes up from there. Jail size 6 adults no juviniles. County wide and have their own 911. Sheriff got all of his staff a $2.50 raise from Jan 2008 to Jan 2009 plus 3% in 2008 and 3% in 2009 to get them up to par.
Roberts Co. Deputy. uncertified $13.05 certified $14.05 Jailers and Dispatchers $10.71 after 17 years $12.30 big jump. As for Sheriffs they are all under pd. Roberts Co. especially for large co. amount of crime and B.S. he puts up with from commissioners. Same gots for Jail Administator.
Will post more as we get them but this should give you a good idea how low Roberts co's are pd conpared to 2 smaller co's. Its a crying shame and a huge embarressment to tell others our "law enforcement wages" at least these other 2 countys commissioners realize how important good law enforcement employees are. Where only our 2 new ones do!!!!!!
Should have told you also Marshell is Population 4000. Roberts over 10,000 Hughes co is smaller also. Both have more Deputys. Marshell has 5. Jim
According to other Sheriffs, Sheriff Owen is under paid appox.$12,000 a year. After 1 yr of service with his experiance and credentials. Years of experiance and schooling all should be taken into concideration when hired. We all know he could make much more anywhere else but he is committed to his county which makes him even better. We are fortunate that he is as we are with Chad Ward. Change has started in county with these 2 and it will continue as long as we have them. Thank God Vince is so highly respected across state or Roberts co. would be the armpit of SD, as the 3"Amingos"keep trying to make it.
A little birdie from the court house told me that 2weeks ago this Tues at commiss meeting, Hull said they were leaving maitenaince man under Dawn because if he went to "their jail" and it was dirty he wanted to be able to tell them to clean it up!!!! Power hungry!!! Wonder if this is what he and Dawn came up with beings he said she wanted to be in on decision??? So now do you think thay will return all the monies they pd him with out of Sheriffs budget?? What a rip off under one depart. and paying out of another. Hope someone jacks them up. Hull will stumble before his regein is over. Hes already showed us he wants to run it all and not work with others. Oh well Cameron will slow him down or he will be in mega truoble with his attitude. We are a smaller county and our jail is 1/2 the size. Wonder they got such a respectable Sheriff and staff at those wages. They should(commissioners)be doing everything they can to keep him. Instead of acting like fools as we read and hear from friends who live there.

Hughes County is substantially larger than Roberts. The 2000 Census shows the population of Hughes County as 16,481, and Roberts with a population of 10,016.

While I agree things are backwards in our county, and our Sheriff and Jail staff are top notch and deserve a substantial payraise, I also believe people need to get their facts straight before posting erroneous information.
Well, I was actually half right. North of Sisseton to the ND border it is SD 127. South of Sisseton to Summit it is RC 34.
Well Hughes county told me they are much smaller in size and crime sorry for the misprint and their jail is much smaller and no juvies.
Now we have 8. Franklin Nelson is up there telling them how to do it!!!! The 3 amingos, Dawn and her patsie and now Nelson? Oh well what can you expect "birds of a feather" and thos 6 sure are out of the same flock!!!!!
I have been reading about the wages and how we compare to other counties. I would love to have more money, who wouldn't but first I would like to see my employees earn a more competitive wage. Without the support of my staff, this job would be harder. I'm proud of the staff I have. I'm sure some do not see eye to eye with me at times, but they all realize if they do their job, I will back them.
Also, I have learned so much about politics and how things work behind your back. This job has actually made me stronger, most things happening now just make me chuckle. The saga will never end or at least not till next election.
So thanks for understanding about the wages and for realizing this jail was not my idea, I'm just here to try and make it work.
