Heard at the coffee clutch that Coteau Hospital is in finacial trouble because Tribe owes them Oner 2 Million dollars for native patients. Any one got any facts on this. Cannot the tribe pay for us with the money given to do that?

The talk is that Avera or Sanford will buy out. Sounds like its leaning toward Sanford. It will be a shame if we lose our rural hospital. Trouble started when IHS closed their hospital. I would ask tribe to pay up because big corperations arn't very understanding. Sanford will not even see you if your bill is not paid unless its an emergency.

Its not the Tribe that owes the money but rather the Indian Health Service. The government, go figure...

where does all the millions that they get go then? i see the tribe getting all these checks in the paper, pics from rural development, now the stimulus hasn't helped me at all, who's getting benefits?

I think they are building 30+ new homes just north of Agency Village.

The Tribe will be building some new homes north of Agency Village. If anyone would like to know where all of the money goes - go out to the tribe & look at all of the programs the tribe offers. Which I think is great! The grants they receive should be listed on the fed web site along w/previous yrs. rpts. which will tell what the money was spent on.

Who all lives in all the new ones by the new clinic????

I think mostly staff from IHS. Although you can rent one if you fall w/in the guidelines. They are very expensive to live in. 2 bdrms. go for $600; 3 bdrms go for +$700-$800 & 4 bdroms +$900 plus you pay for all of the utilities.

ya, i looked into all the programs at the tribe, one at ET demo you can't get money to fix your car cause you have to have just started a job, imagine not if you have one for 6 years. OA district never has money and if you try you get the run around, like fuel assistance, you have to get turned down by the state first??? why can you get both? state and tribe, that's what its for right? I see the people that work at those programs using the money for themselves and family members.

Do tribe members have any concern about Dr Crawford running good Drs and patients off from IHS???????

Anonymous said...

Oohh please...I wish you would just go to the other site...if your going to bash IHS staff. I think this issue killed the initial blog & made it sour grapes.

Anonymous said...

Ohh please nobody is bashing the staff. Only 1 Dr. Where do you think the info comes from? Other staff of course.

We lost a good Doctor at IHS. His name was Dr. Peterson from Flandreau. He couldn't handle the working conditions here. He told me that one day him and another doctor has so many walk ins that they called Dr. Crawford many times to come and help them so they could get done faster and these patients wouldn't have to wait so long. She refused. They worked almost 10 hours with little breaks in between. Anyone who's doesn't care about these patients like her should leave. She's not a good doctor anyway, too polical, mouthy and doesn't give a shit one way or another about these patients. I'll never forgive her for chasing Dr. Patel away. She was just jealous because he was better than her.

Need a blog for the shooting of that Bissonette Kid, I know people have a few concerns about that.
