We are hearing that our "supposedly" outgoing States Attorney doesn't want to leave her county-paid offices to make room for the new duly-elected States Attorney.
We also hear that our county (which is rumored to be broke ) is actually dallying on evicting the old and bringing in the new.
What is more, the out-voted lady wants to continue working on those county cases she couldn't seem to finish while she was on the county payroll, thus continuing to draw
county funds while she mis-manages even longer.
Apparently your vote does not count in Roberts County. The voters thought they had elected a new States Attorney, one who would be fair, work for the people and do the job he was elected to do.
Instead it sounds like Roberts County (or the few commissioners who think they ARE the only authority in RC) intends to keep the old States Attorney on the county payroll while she continues to waste time and tax monies to occupy county financed offices that properly belong to the incoming States Attorney.
Are we so rich in RC that we can afford 2 States Attorneys and 2 county funded offices? Doesn't SD law specifically state term dates? Maybe it is time to accept that THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN.

using the term "lady" rather loosely aren't you?
Well this doesn't surprise me at all.Maybe they have a few more tricks up their sleeves before the new commissioners are sworn in too.How about appointing a 2nd Sherrif while they are at it? I'm sure one of the two unsuccessful candidates would be "willing" to help out.
Well, well now Nickols wants to be public defender. She didnt think the county needed one a couple of years ago - guess she needs the county to keep supporting her
To the last poster...thats a joke right?
no joke
If this session of CC's hire her we all need to cry foul, they rented a office to her in county building where States attorney Cameron is Can you beleive it? When ask why they said we need the money. They sold thenselves out to Kay for $3,600 a year!!!!! Big money!!!!! The amingos have to keep their pet close
Can Roberts Co. afford a public defender? Do we need her as public defender? Kick her to the curb. She is a big time loser. Always used other attorneys to handle cases and now we are supporting her with salary, insurance and office space? Really tired of the BS that is going on and time for each and every one of us to call our CC and express our opinions.Know Hull won't listen but he is only one, so put the pressure on everyone else, minus our two new elected guys who might really like to do a good job.
FYI Its not up to commiss if she finishs old casesits up to Cameron and Judge so doubt she'll finish many only the have too's that Kerry cant be involed in because he was defense attorney. They got so much pressure from public they had to gharge her the same price as any one else so she did'nt get what she wanted, "FREE" She got the public defender position thrown out because it was'nt needed now she wants it? What a loser, who wants her defending them. Look how she trested natives and some whites if she didnt like them. Remember what she tried to do to a senior citizen because she stood up tp her and the good ole boys. We need her gone. Hey her and Hull could marry and leave the county!!!!!!
Well Kay was knocked down where Public Defenders job was concerned and she tried her best to sell herself and how great she would be for the county. Ya right!!! She proved in the last years of her reign(when she felt she could'nt be replaced)how much damage she could do to the county.Who do you think gave the commiss bad advice? Who do you think fueled the fire against our sheriff? Who treated Natives so terrible in court? To all of these the answer in Kay. So sorry ole gal but what goes around comes around and you deserve it all.
